Building permits

Generally speaking, all building activities (construction of new buildings, conversion, demolition) as well as changes to the use of buildings require a permit. With a few exceptions, only architects and engineers are able to submit the corresponding application documents. That’s why it is recommended you have an architect or engineer authorised to present building documents assist you with the planning process.

A checklist for construction permits and outline planning applications as well as other important information in connection with the approval of construction projects are provided in our info-flyer and on the web pages of the city’s building authority. You can also find the competent contact persons there if you have any further questions.

You will also need a permit for all advertising structures > 1 m². The application documents must be submitted by a specialist company – generally speaking, this is done by the company, which manufactured the advertising fixture for you.
